Privacy
This Privacy Policy explains how Gradus Proximus LLC (“we”, “us”, “AskThai”) processes personal data when you use AskThai AI at askthai.ai, including the German-language interface at askthai.ai/de/ (the “Service”). It applies to visitors, registered users, and Pro subscribers.

2. Personal data we collect
Depending on how you use the Service, we process:
- Account data: email address, password (stored as a hash), account role, language preference, and verification status.
- Usage and device data: session and device identifiers (see “Cookies” below), IP address, general request metadata, and usage-limit counters.
- Content you submit: the questions you ask and related settings (e.g. answer language); these may be stored and, depending on their status, displayed publicly (see “Public question pages” below).
- Billing data: for Pro subscribers, Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, selected plan and currency, subscription status, and renewal date. We do not receive or store your full card number; card details are processed directly by Stripe.
- Communications: messages you send us (e.g. to hi@askthai.ai), including any information you choose to include.
- Referral data: if you use or are referred through our optional invite/referral program, a referral identifier and related attribution data.
- Analytics data: pseudonymous identifiers and interaction data collected via Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4, and limited server-side conversion events (see “Analytics” below).
3. How we use personal data
We use personal data to: provide and operate the Service (including generating answers, applying usage limits, and account management); process payments and manage subscriptions via Stripe; send transactional emails (e.g. verification, password reset, device confirmation, billing notices); secure the Service and prevent abuse or fraud; analyze and improve the Service, including reviewing errors and answer quality; operate the optional referral program; and respond to your inquiries.
4. Legal bases for processing
Where the EU/EEA General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) or a similar law applies to our processing of your personal data, we rely on: performance of a contract with you (e.g. providing the Service, processing payments); our legitimate interests (e.g. securing the Service, preventing abuse, improving answer quality), balanced against your interests and rights; compliance with legal obligations (e.g. accounting requirements for payments); and, where required, your consent (e.g. for certain analytics or communications), which you may withdraw at any time.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
We use the following cookies and comparable local storage:
| Name | Purpose | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|
| WordPress authentication cookies | Keep you logged in | Session / until logout |
| askthai_sid | Session identifier used for usage limits and abuse prevention | Approximately 30 days |
| askthai_did | Device identifier used for usage limits, device trust, and abuse prevention | Approximately 30 days |
| askthai_ref | Referral/affiliate attribution when you arrive via an invite link | Approximately 90 days |
| Google Analytics cookies (e.g. _ga) | Analytics, set via Google Tag Manager where GA4 is active | Set by Google; see Google’s documentation |
We currently do not display a cookie-consent banner or use a consent-management platform; we rely on the legal bases described in Section 4 for the cookies above. If our practices change (for example, if we introduce cookies that require consent under applicable law), we will update this policy and add appropriate consent mechanisms. You can control or delete cookies in your browser settings; blocking essential cookies may affect the Service’s functionality.
6. Analytics
We use Google Tag Manager (default container) to load Google Analytics 4 for aggregated usage analysis (e.g. page views), and we send limited server-side conversion events (sign_up, begin_checkout, purchase) to Google via the Measurement Protocol. These server-side events do not include the text of your questions or answers. Analytics data is processed by Google, which may combine it with other data it holds about you subject to Google’s own privacy policy.
7. Recipients and third-party services
We share personal data with service providers who process it on our behalf or in their own right to help us operate the Service, including: Stripe (payment processing, subscription management); AI/LLM providers (to generate answers to submitted questions); ElevenLabs (text-to-speech audio generation, where configured); email delivery providers (transactional emails); Google (Tag Manager, Analytics); Cloudflare (security and content delivery, where used); and our hosting provider. Each of these providers processes data under its own applicable terms and, where required, data processing agreements with us.
8. International data transfers
We are based in the United States, and our service providers are located in various countries, including the United States and the European Union. If you are located in the EU/EEA, UK, or another jurisdiction with data-transfer restrictions, your personal data may be transferred to and processed in countries that may not offer the same level of data protection as your home jurisdiction. Where required, we and our providers rely on appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for such transfers.
9. Public question pages
Questions and answers are generally published at a public URL (e.g. askthai.ai/q-{slug}/ or the German equivalent). New questions are typically not indexed by search engines (noindex) until marked as suitable for indexing; indexable questions may then appear in “related”, “popular”, or “suggested” listings and in our sitemap. We do not display your name or email address on the public answer page. However, we may internally link a question to your account, device, or log data for support, abuse prevention, and legal purposes. Please do not include passwords, financial details, health information, or other sensitive or secret information in a question. If you find a publicly visible question that raises a privacy concern, contact hi@askthai.ai.
10. Data retention
We retain account data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Public questions and answers may remain available until removed by us following your request or our own review. Billing records are retained by Stripe and by us as required for accounting and tax purposes. Cookie lifetimes are described in Section 5. You can request earlier deletion as described in Section 11, subject to legal retention requirements.
11. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise these rights, contact hi@askthai.ai. We do not currently offer a fully automated self-service deletion tool; we act on your request manually and confirm once completed.
12. Additional rights for users in the EU/EEA
If you are located in the European Union or the European Economic Area, you additionally have the right, under the GDPR, to: access your personal data (Art. 15); request rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16); request erasure of your data (Art. 17), subject to legal exceptions; request restriction of processing (Art. 18); receive your data in a portable format (Art. 20); and object to processing based on our legitimate interests (Art. 21), including for analytics. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection supervisory authority in your country of residence, place of work, or the place of the alleged infringement.
13. Children
The Service is not directed at children. You must be at least 18 years old to subscribe to a paid plan; where minors use free features, this is only permitted where lawful and with any required parental consent (see our Terms and Conditions).
14. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the Service or legal requirements. We will post the updated version with a new effective date and, for material changes, provide additional notice where required by law.
